About Dr. Kan
The heart and soul of my Naturopathic care is centered on having a great connection with my patients, getting to know my patients as persons and recognizing their individuality, empowering my patients to make informed decisions about their health, assisting my patients to find the underlying causes of their health concerns, removing their obstacles to optimal wellness, promoting their body’s innate healing ability, and recommending safe and effective personalized natural therapeutics to achieve their optimal health and vitality.
My Story
Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Teerawong Kasiolarn (Kan) moved to study in the U.S. since 16 years old. Dr. Kan received a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Computer Information Systems with honors at Arizona State University (ASU) in 2000. Dr. Kan later received the Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) and the Master of Science in Acupuncture (M.S.Ac.) in 2005 from Bastyr University, world-renowned for its curriculum in science-based natural medicine.
After graduation, Dr. Kan served as the Naturopathic medical resident at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine (UBCNM) in Connecticut, Yale-Prevention Research Center (PRC), and the Integrative Medicine Center (IMC) at Griffin Hospital, a teaching facility affiliated with Yale University.
After his residency, Dr. Kan moved to Northern Virginia (NOVA) area and had been practicing at Nova Medical Group (NMG), the largest integrative primary care practice in Northern Virginia, as a Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.) and a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) until 2016 when NMG was later acquired by Inova Health Systems. Dr. Kan had stayed with Inova Health Systems until August 2019 when Dr. Kan, his wife (Angel), and their two young children (Aunya & Adrian) moved to Bangkok, Thailand to be close to his Thai family members and to take care of his aging parents.
In 2019, Dr. Kan opened his own Naturopathic clinic named Dr. Kan Wellness Center (DKWC). Dr. Kan currently only sees his patients or clients virtually and uses secure, HIPAA-compliant, and real-time video-conferencing technologies to communicate with his clients. His patients feel more comfortable in their own homes than in a clinical setting, plus no stress of driving and dealing with unpredictable traffic.
Dr. Kan focuses on Metabolic Syndrome (weight management, obesity, prediabetes, diabetes), cardiovascular diseases, chronic fatigue, thyroid disorders, chronic pain, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression, allergies, autoimmune diseases, and chronic disease prevention.
Dr. Kan combines both western Naturopathic Medicine as well as Eastern Traditional Chinese Medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. He truly believes in the key Naturopathic principle, “the Healing Power of Nature,” in which he utilizes natural therapies that are safe and can support and promote the body’s innate healing ability. Dr. Kan addresses the underlying causes of disease and treats a wide range of diseases through safe and effective individualized natural treatments including clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, nutritional supplementation, and lifestyle counseling.
